Noël Coward was a Londoner born and bred (in Teddington) who rose to become one of the world’s most famous writer, performer, and master of wit and style. Oh, do pop along.

Exhibition is on now until Thursday 23 December 2021.

This major exhibition explores the visual impact of Coward’s life and work, from his London theatre roots to the world stage. It takes a fresh look at how ‘The Master’ and his circle influenced fashion and culture from the early 20th century to this day.

As well as Coward’s hugely successful career as a playwright, composer, director, actor, and singer, he was a constant supporter of and contributor to the visual arts, particularly championing women and LGBTQ artists.

The show features costumes by some of the revered fashion designers Coward collaborated with, as well as clothing from his productions and personal wardrobe. Also featured are original set designs from Coward’s many stage and film productions, with personal effects and furniture from his homes in England, Switzerland, and Jamaica. Artworks by Coward himself and his creative sphere, along with letters, photos, and video footage combine to reveal new dimensions of his enduring creative legacy.

This free exhibition is a unique partnership between the City of London Corporation, The Noël Coward Foundation, and The Noël Coward Archive Trust.
