Rostov the Great has been standing majestically on the shore of Lake Nero for more than 1150 years. The city, which is part of the tourist complex "Golden Ring of Russia".

Thousands of tourists and pilgrims come to Rostov all year round. Indeed, in the 14th century, St. Sergius of Radonezh spent his childhood and adolescence in the ancient city. There are also two large monasteries in Rostov, which are especially visited by pilgrims. The first monastery is Avraamiev, which preserves the huge Epiphany Cathedral, built in the middle of the 16th century by the personal order of Ivan the Terrible. The second monastery is the Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery, in which an iconostasis made of artificial marble from the middle of the 19th century is located inside the Dmitrievskaya Church, in the early 19th century.

But the heart of the city is incomparably the Kremlin, built in the 17th century and now turned into a museum complex. In the center of the Kremlin there is the Assumption Cathedral of the 16th century, with five silver scaly onion domes and frescoes of that time preserved inside. The nearby 17th century belfry, with 15 bells, carries its bell ringing throughout the area. You can go up to the top of the belfry and look around, contemplating the beauty of Lake Nero. The Samuilovsky building of the Kremlin houses an art gallery of such famous artists as Aivazovsky, Shishkin, Makovsky, as well as a collection of Yaroslavl portraits of merchants of the 18th and 20th centuries.

Rostov is famous not only for its architectural structures and monuments, but also for its bell ringing, beautiful legends and fabulous legends. Rostov museums such as the Frog Princess Museum, the Hedgehog Petrovich Museum, the Alyosha Popovich Bogatyrskoe Farmstead Museum and many others have opened their doors for young travelers.

You can take a ride on Lake Nero with the breeze. To the left of the Kremlin there is a pier from which you can sail either by motor ship or by private motor boat.
