An all-day event for redheads and their appreciators to celebrate red hair. Expect heaps gingertastic photography, art, music, talks, stalls, merchandise and activities.

The line-up so far...

Gingzilla - Get red-y for Gingzilla, an award-winning international cabaret and performance artist from Australia! She has performed to sold out shows in Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe and across the UK. She’s currently touring her show ‘Glamonster VS The World’ in Australia and will soon be bringing it to the UK. Gingzilla will be performing some aptly ginger-themed tunes during the evening segment of Redhead Day UK!

Diane Spencer - Hilarious, dark and always charming, Diane Spencer is an award-winning comedian who has performed worldwide and amassed over a quarter of a million views on Youtube. Witness her hilarity for yourselves on stage.

Alasdair Beckett-King - Labelled as “one to watch” by Time Out and winner of Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2017, Alasdair Beckett-King is an award-winning comedian and sketch writer. The natural redhead won New Act of the Year in 2014 and has performed stand-up across the UK, including Glastonbury and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Get ready for some ginger jokes and anecdotes.

Cally Beaton - Cally is a natural storyteller, bringing her rollercoaster ride of a comedy show to the stage, so you can expect heaps of anecdotes, observations and stuff even your best mate wouldn’t admit to. Cally took her first show, ‘Cat Call’, to Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year with comedy partner Catherine Bohart, where together they enjoyed 4**** reviews, sell-out rooms and received a Malcolm Hardee Award.

Elf Lyons - Elf Lyons, an award-winning red-hatted comedian and clown, is bringing her hilarious redheadedness to her fellow gingerkind!In 2017 her solo show SWAN at the Edinburgh Fringe was nominated for the Best Show Award and the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality. And in 2018 it was in the final shortlist for Fringe World’s Best Comedy Show award.

Collene Webb - Exclusive for Redhead Day UK 2018! Collene will be officially announcing her new drama web series with a preview screening. Collene runs Redhead Reach – raising the profile of redheads on stage and on screen. Her ‘Anne of Green Gables’ national UK theatre tour received 5***** and ‘outstanding’ reviews in 2016. She was playwright (adapted from L.M. Montgomery’s novel), composer/arranger and producer as well as playing Anne – the iconic redhead.

Laura Coppolaro – Get your gingery caricature drawn by illustrator Laura Coppolaro, the brains behind The Wondrous Fox, which will also be on display at the event!

‘My Life as a Redhead’ by Jacky Colliss Harvey – Natural redhead and author Jacky Colliss Harvey delves into the self-exploration of redheads in her new book ‘My Life as a Redhead’, an adorable journal that allows gingers both natural and dyed, current and former, to catalogue every aspect of their redheadedness.

Sheya Lily - This will be the third Redhead Day UK performance for 17-year-old Sheya Lily. She regularly busks in and around London as part of the Busk in London scheme, and was a finalist in the Mayor of London’s Gigs competitions. Sheya has a laid-back singing style and likes to perform acoustic covers along with her original songs.

Genetics talk from Dr Adam Rutherford - Author, broadcaster and geneticist, Dr Adam Rutherford hosts the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Inside Science’. He’ll be giving the Redhead Day UK crowd a taster of his impeccable insight into how ginger genetics work, as taken from his book, A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived: The Stories in Our Genes.

There will also be a talk from Catherine Bull at charity Knit for Peace, who will demonstrate the clever ways of ginger genetics through the use of knitting! Knit for Peace grew out of projects developed in Rwanda and India and brings together women of traditionally hostile communities to knit clothes for street children and orphans.

Helen Fulthorpe - Helen Fulthorpe’s big break was on ITV‘s ‘X Factor’, making it all the way to the judges’ houses stage in 2014 with Simon Cowell as her mentor. Since then, she has travelled up and down the country singing her soulful tunes and supporting for the likes of Alesha Dixon and Sam Bailey on their UK tours.

Caroline England - Caroline England is ferociously ginger and proud and has the music to prove it performing her single ‘Ginger’ here at Redhead Day UK 2018 as well as songs from her latest album ‘Faking Wonderful’. Caroline once sang at the world record attempt to get the most amount of redheads on an aeroplane flight and included hundreds of redheads in her Youtube music video to accompany the song. The track is the perfect anthem for gingers the world over!

Laura Oakes - A ginger newcomer to Redhead Day UK, Laura Oakes will set the stage on fire with her upbeat and catchy country music, which has become a big deal in the UK country music scene, achieving multiple hits in the iTunes Country Chart.

'A Field Guide to Redheads' by Elizabeth Graeber – Illustrator and creator of ‘A Field Guide to Redheads’, Elizabeth Graeber, will be hopping over from the US to showcase her books and her talent for all to see. Get your hands on a copy of the book, or how about a commissioned illustration from the artist herself?

Craige Middleburg - Craige Middleburg (stage name Magic) is a young creative storyteller from East London, Hackney. Jack of all trades and master of some (he hopes) he is mainly an actor and musician, proficient in both piano and quick-witted wordplay. Honing all his creative skills, there is nothing he enjoys more than sharing his creative stories and music with the world, through audio and visual outlets. Catch Magic on stage performing (clean versions of) his work at Redhead Day UK!

Hot For Ginger - Hot For Ginger is the world’s biggest and best social network and online dating website for redheads. Now in its 8th year, the website has over 70,000 active redheads and ginger lovers, and hosts a vibrant community of gingerphiles on its website and Facebook page. As well as helping ginger lovers connect, Hot For Ginger takes an active role in promoting positive ginger attitudes and is staunchly anti-bullying.

Strawberry Studio - Creating bespoke designs for girls and boys (and adults, too!), Strawberry Studio will be on hand to brighten up your day with face painting, temporary glitter tattoos, and feathers for your (red) hair!

Orangutan Foundation - Cathy Smith, from the Orangutan Foundation, will share her experience of working with the only other redheaded ape. Talking about the work being done to save the orangutan and some fun facts along the way, Cathy will bring along highlights from the charity’s extensive collection of photographs. A must for lovers of the great apes, this talk is an opportunity to learn more about how to protect our critically endangered redheaded cousins!

British Skin Foundation - The British Skin Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated to raising funds for all skin diseases and skin cancer research. To date, they’ve raised £16 million to fund research projects since 1996, and Redhead Day UK 2018 will look to add to this total. As well as the British Skin Foundation being Redhead Day UK 2018’s nominated charity, they will be at the event to be on hand to offer advice, resources and materials to give information on looking after your skin.

Plus, there will be loads of merch from the new children's protection swimwear brand, Noma Swimwear and Ginge London - the Essex-based brand headed up by a natural redhead (unsurprisingly!) which sell unique, high-end street wear clothing to kids and adults alike. Plus, get your GINGE and GINGE Lover clothing, temporary tattoos and much more from the Ginger Parrot stand. Thirsty? Then get ya drinks from Gingerella. They're delicious, refreshing and does good for the ginger farmers, too. So, come and sample some of Gingerella’s fiery delights.
