Sociologist, feminist and theorist Christine Delphy discusses her new work Separate and Dominate: Feminism and Racism after the War on Terror.

Examining the ways in which mainstream feminism is used to mobilise racist measures, this book argues for a fluid understanding of political and social identity. Described as ‘France's most exciting feminist writer’ by Simone de Beauvoir, Christine Delphy was one of the few French feminists to speak out against the French government ban on the veil in 2011.

Christine Delphy is a French feminist writer, sociologist, and theorist. She cofounded, with Simone de Beauvoir, Nouvelles questions féministes, and is the author of Close to Home: A Materialist Analysis of Women’s Oppression and her new book Separate and Dominate: Feminism and Racism after the War on Terror.
