The Law of the Rights of Mother Earth is a 2010 Bolivian law. It gives legal standing to natural systems so that they can be self-sustaining, free of contamination and capable of regeneration.

Roberto Calzadilla, the Bolivian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, will present the law and Bolivia’s efforts to implement this important land ethic.

Bolivia is a world leader in demonstrating how a nation state can articulate the relationship its populace has to the landscape that nurtures and sustains it. The country has inspired people around the world to talk about the rights of landscapes, the creatures that inhabit them, and natural processes, to be considered alongside and equal to those of the people who share them.
