Béla Bartók only created one opera, using the libretto written by his close friend Béla Balázs to transform the classic Grimm's fairytale into a tale of murder, treachery and tragedy.

Upon entering Bluebeard’s Castle and professing her love, Judith, Bluebeard’s new wife asks to see behind the seven doors inside, each one containing a part of his story. In her quest to remove the shadows from the secrets of his past so their love can grow, she learns too much, to a tragic end.

Let the Royal Orchestral Society be your guides, as Grammy Award-winning soprano Janice Watson and baritone Andrew Greenan take centre stage for an one-off Sunday special with two performances on 2nd April- at 3pm and 6pm. ……………………………………………………………………………………….
