Taking the spirit of the campfire into the sheltered green space of the Barbican's conservatory, join The Nest Collective for a unique, unplugged & intimate show from This is How we Fly & Bex Burch.

Founded by Mercury nominated singer Sam Lee, The Nest Collective has been bringing emerging and established artists from the worlds of folk, world and traditional music to London for over ten years. With their new series Greenhouse Gigs they are bringing the spirit of Campfire Club indoors, presenting shows in sheltered green spaces around London.

This is How we Fly are a quartet that defy categorisation. They describe themselves as a contemporary folk group but you can hear influences from jazz, Irish traditional, Swedish folk and ambient electronica in their sound. Made up of a fiddle player, a clarinettist, a drummer and, most intriguingly, a percussive dancer, they mesh impeccable musicianship with a flair for showmanship.

Bex Burch heads up forward-thinking UK trio Vula Viel who release their sophomore album, ‘Do Not Be Afraid’ on 25th January 2019, continuing their unique musical journey centred around the Gyil (Ghanaian xylophone). Burch’s solo set weaves the Gyil lines around sparse polyrhythms and intricate rhythm structures to take the instrument’s deep buzzing sound into new territory.
