Chytilová's second feature, Daisies is a mischievous and joyous film that follows the misadventures of two perilously bored young women.

Boredom, bikinis and a blistering critique of the beauty myth:  from its first seconds, Vera Chytilova’s ever-fresh Daisies kicks wickedly against the pricks and feels as if it was made today.  An innovative and brilliantly absurd masterpiece of the 60s Czech New Wave, the film was made three years before the Prague Spring but dissent is clearly in the air.  Daisies follows the misadventures of two young women both called Marie who rebelliously scam rich dates, cut off their own heads and wreck an official feast  – with ‘wasting food’ being  the official reason why the film was banned by the Czech authorities.

So Mayer is a writer and activist, and curator with Club des Femmes and will be introducing Daisies. Club des Femmes stop off at the Lexi on their major national tour "Revolt, She Said: Women and Film after ‘68," reflecting on the volcanic change following the events of May 1968, sharing intersectional, queer and feminist stories of revolution.

The film will be introduced by writer, activist and curator with Club des Femmes, So Mayer.
