Hundreds of independent film clubs, cinemas and enthusiasts in over 35 towns and cities across the country (with hotspots in Nottingham, Leeds, Bristol, London, Brighton, Liverpool and Manchester) have united to transform September into the unofficial month of cinema.

The season is Scalarama, and the man leading the London movement is our Guest Editor and movie wrangler Phil Foxwood. He talks to Trixie Malicious about some of the strands - from Project 51 (women in film), to the 10th anniversary of the great SecondRun DVD, plus Celluloid and VHS flicks - and John Waters, and a whole load more! That filthy auteur John Waters is in town - and we've tickets to a few screenings he'll be at. See him at Derek Jarman's radical film 'Blue', or at his own film 'Multiple Maniacs' - both at the BFI Southbank as part of the dedicated John Waters season. We also have tickets to the massively iconic Brazilian Tropicália band Os Mutantes who'll be playing at the Village Underground!
