Song of the Species

Our Guest Editor this week is the Deep Southern Composer, Transmedia Artist, Ebe Oke. They are about to release their debut album - SPECIES - featuring fellow artists Brian Eno, Takako Minekewa and Jah Wobble. Imagine a series of sonic compositions fusing the natural world, electronica, and bird song and you'll begin to get close to this enchanting and meditative album - due to be performed live at the Courtyard Theatre on Thursday 28 February.

In their Run-Riot interview, Ebe talks with fellow artist and friend Matthew Stone about the making of their debut album, the equally courageous and cathartic creative process, the collaborations, and taking strength from 'acceptance and release'.

In our Magazine section, listen the track FIELD I by Ebe ahead of the event at the Courtyard Theatre.

For those with deep pockets and a charitable urge, here are two fundraisers to get behind: the first is with Woman SRSLY - the community-based collective led by a diverse team of female artists who are looking to continue their work during 2019. The other good cause is to save independent cinema, namely the famous Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley - more info here.
