Moonlight Shadow
Festival season is upon us, and with some old favourites like Glastonbury noticeably absent, many new gatherings have risen up, all promising something new and unique. Road to Nowhere's 'no currency, no hierachy, no boundaries' slogan caught our eye. After chatting to them about the ethos of the festival, we feel like they're your best bet for an event that harks back to the community inspired origins of festivals like Glasto - read the Run Riot Interview here. The Road to Nowhere crew have taken time-out from organising their inaugural festival to Guest Edit this week's newsletter - their top picks include Foodcycle's Forgotten Feast, a chance to feast on surplus food like vegetables discarded due to wonky shapes and sizes. We love a wonky veg!
Nevermind training for the Olympics, are you man enough to run in a dress? Get your frock on and support Prostate Action at The Great Drag Race. And book your tickets early for Bloc 2012, a huge dance party weekend taking place at the newly revived Pleasure Gardens in East London.
There's more Olympic (deeply satirical) spirit to be won in our competitions - grab a pair of tickets to the Olympic Vaudeville at Jackson's Lane. If you're not feeling the sporty vibe, then check out the same venue for a triple bill of works inspired by Dresses - as part of their Postcards season (read our interview with festival director, Adrain Berr here). LIFT 2012 brings us a new interpretation of The Scottish Play, with 'Leila and Ben: A Bloody History' - we have tickets to be won! Read our interview with LIFT director, Mark Ball here. Party like it's 1799 at A Night of Georgian Decadence at Friday lates at Kensington palace - we have 4 pairs of tickets up for grabs. Enjoy first class dance 'In good company' with the dancers from Hofesh Shechter's company at The Place, enter the competition for tickets here. And lastly, head to the BGWMC to get your hands henna'd, enjoy some Bollywood classics and learn the moves yourself at Poppadom Preach. Check out the rest of our ongoing competitions on our Offers page here.
In our blogs we check out what happened when they turned the scariest play in the world into a movie, watch Mary Epworth's new music video on RRTV and check out East London sporting stories with London Fields Radio podcast The East Stand. And of course there's always the best of the rest! In the meantime, let's keep praying to the festival gods for some more sunshine!
