Curiosity thrills!

Let's paaaaaarty! If anyone was to write about the forty greatest parties in literature - it would have to be our Guest Editor Suzette Field. She is the all time party girl, promoter and author - and her book 'A Curious Invitation' is a frothy celebration of those top forty! Read our interview to catch a glimpse of the glamour, fruity love, and delightful filth that populates her work.

Away from the pages, throw yourself gayly at the most ghoulish of Halloween parties conjured by her good self. Head to The Great Hall in St Pancras for Grimm's Halloween - a Day of the Dead Ball! Or, as part of London Month of the Dead - float to the Death Cafe with Jon Underwood at the Dissenters Chapel in Kensal Green Cemetery - not for the feint hearted… Lastly, among her Top 4 tips for us Suzette also recommends singer songwriter Bishi at SPILL 2014 opening Party, as well as the much anticipated The Institute of Sexology at the Wellcome Collection.

In our Magazine section, circus performer and writer Ed Gosling tells us about the Rocky Horror inspired Halloween party The Rocky Horror Ride; arts producer and writer Lara Clifton reviews the absolutely fabulous Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World. Two jobs are up for grabs - at Human Rights Watch, and The Crafts Council. Camden People's Theatre call out for artist submissions, and artist Kim Noble makes a fundraising film for the Live Art Development Agency.

We have some outrageously fabulous ticket competitions this week! For parties, dig hard for The Halloween Raveyard at The Vaults, or hop to the Haunted House at the BGWMC, or swing to the Carousel Halloween Rocky Horror Ride. For high-end cabaret - La Soirée returns to London! For film, DocHouse present Unearthed - delving into the true story of Fracking in South Africa. In theatre - we have some true gems! See Dickie Beau at the Barbican; Nosferatu at the Unicorn Theatre; a climate science based thriller at the Royal Court - 2071; and finally the brilliant Action Hero present Hoke's Bluff at Shoreditch Town Hall.

As for our Best of the Rest, here's our quick fire round: Emily Bee gets illegal in the loo / Horrorific music from cult composer Fabio Frizzi / Jerwood Encounters curate the art of Suspicion / Live Art is exposed at Contemporary Rites at Iniva, plus Steakhouse Live at Toynbee Studios / Folk Rising at Cecil Sharp House / Women in film are celebrated at the Underwire Festival / Art Historian Gemma Blackshaw talks Egon Schiele and retro porno at the Freud Museum / Grimm Tales unravel at the Oxo Tower Wharf / and the highly acclaimed theatre troupe The People Show present 124: Fallout and 127: Hands Off.
