The Art of Mindfulness

We have some news dear reader! We're fizzing with excitement to announce that this week we launch Run Riot Projects - our not-for-profit platform for producing learning and creative projects. Our aim is to inspire and enhance lives through the celebration of progressive culture (aka the positively shifting zeitgeist) - something we've been supporting via our magazine, and are now revved up to act on ourselves.

Each week we're hugely inspired by the great things happening in this city - now we're going to be a greater part of it, adding to the momentum of the good times! We hope you enjoy what we'll be bringing to the table.

Here's the thing we're really proud of. Our first project is all about getting to the core - living in the present moment. The here and now. Allow us to introduce you to The Art of Mindfulness - a secular mindfulness course lead by the amazing Dr. Tamara Russell. If you're curious check out the details on the new site here.

We've invited Tamara to be our Guest Editor this week - she takes meditation flash mobs onto Brixton streets, conducts Mindfulness sessions on the Barbican stage, and has been in dialogue with his Holiness the Dalai Lama. A neuroscientist, author, clinical psychologist, martial artist and pioneering Mindfulness expert, Tamara is truly a mixer of worlds, a courageous free thinker transcending the boundaries between the arts, science and beyond. Read her interview with Jo Childs here.

In our Magazine section, Ben Walters interviews the iconic Andrew Logan - the creator of the Alternative Miss World, the sensational pageant conceived in 1972 that has become an institution. This is where you're sure to find the most thrilling spirits animating London's underground scene!

We also hear from illustrator-in-residence at the Wellcome Collection, Rob Bidder who tells us about interpreting his bizarre #CuriousConversations with the public into the most unusual drawings.

As for the best of the rest - here's our quick fire round: West Side Story / Sofia Helin (The Bridge) / Yan Tiersen / David Byrne & Fatboy Slim - Here Lies Love / How Many Chairs to Build the Future / Di Mainstone - Human Harp / Derrick Carter / Roxana Halls / F*ck! I didn't Get Kate Bush Tickets! / The Not Television Festival / D.I.Y. Art Market / body>data>space / Bring the Happy / and Ecopolis China!

Where can I find out more about what's going on? You're not a member of Run-Riot? What are you waiting for - sign up to the free newsletter and we'll share our top tips with you. Easy.

Carpe diem! Have a sensational week dear Players. Bottoms up! RRxx
